You may be familiar with these exotic flowers in florists' arrangements. The plants are actually great subjects for the flower border and large pots. When planted in filtered shade and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, they spread freely and put on a superb show. Their azalea-like etched, blotched and often multicolored 2 inch blooms are borne profusely in clusters atop erect, lily-like stems. In colder areas, heavily mulch the roots or lift the roots in the fall and store them in sand in a cool, damp location.
