Unlike its climbing cousins, this clematis has a low growing, non-vining habit. Its short stature doesn't limit the size of its blue bell-shaped flowers, and the flowers produce "mophead" seedpods for extended interest. Flowers on both old and new wood, so it can be pruned back lightly in late winter or early spring if desired.
